Last week Wednesday afternoon our teams were activated to assist Tracker SA with a silver hijacked VW Polo, which was located within minutes and a suspect was later arrested.
At approximately 14h20 members of our Special Operations Team were activated to assist Tracker SA with a Polo that had been hijacked in the Brookdale, Phoenix area.
Members of our Special Ops Team immediately responded to the last known location of the hijacked vehicle. Within 17 minutes of being activated the vehicle was found abandoned and recovered on a dirt road in the Amaoti area by Tracker SA assisted by Marshall Special Ops Team, the SAPS Trio and Vehicle Task Team and other private security companies.
It was later established that a teenager who is believed to be involved in the hijacking was arrested at the scene of the hijacking.
The SAPS will be investigating further.
