In the early hours of the morning on Thursday members of our Special Operations Team apprehended a suspect that had stolen and stripped a Hyundai.
At approximately 02h45 members of our Special Ops Team were activated to assist Cartrack with locating a stolen Hyundai that had been taken in the Ntuzuma area. Our members immediately responded to the last known location of the vehicle.
As our team members arrived, two suspects were seen still inside the vehicle in the process of stripping it in order to find the tracking device. When the suspects noticed our team members approaching, they alighted from the vehicle and fled on foot.
After a lengthy foot chase, one suspect was apprehended by members of our Special Ops Team together with the assistance of the Cartrack ground team members and Ntuzuma SAPS Crime Prevention Unit. Unfortunately, the second suspect managed to evade arrest.
Upon searching the suspect, car break-in implements and the radio taken from the stolen vehicle were found in his possession. The suspect together with the recovered stolen vehicle was transported back to Ntuzuma SAPS for further investigation and processing.
