Content strategist / videographer
Marshall Security is on the lookout for a dynamic, creative Video Content Strategist to turbocharge our video marketing efforts. What you’ll do:
As our Video Content Strategist, you’ll play a key role in shaping Marshall Security’s brand presence online. From quickly turning around high-impact video edits to brainstorming cutting-edge social media concepts, you’ll keep our audience engaged and informed. Partnering closely with our marketing teams, you’ll ensure our video content remains relevant, engaging, and true to our distinctive brand voice.
Video Production & Editing
- Edit raw footage from urgent arrests or community events quickly and professionally.
- Produce engaging, branded video content tailored for various digital platforms.
- Ensure consistency in branding (graphics, subtitles, visual style) across all outputs.
Content Strategy & Ideation
- Develop and brainstorm creative, innovative video concepts for social media (TikTok, Instagram Reels, Facebook, YouTube).
- Collaborate with the Digital Marketing Specialist to align video strategies with current campaigns.
Trend Spotting & Innovation
- Monitor emerging video trends and new platform-specific features.
- Regularly propose fresh, creative video ideas to keep our content innovative and aligned with our unique brand voice.
Basic Filming & Equipment Handling
- Occasionally assist in filming at events or community engagements.
- Manage basic setups of camera, lighting, and audio equipment when necessary.
Collaboration & Press Release Support
- Collaborate closely with the marketing team to attach impactful video content to press releases or urgent announcements.
- Maintain and organise an accessible library of video content for future use and quick repurposing.
What you need to know:
Skills, Qualifications & Experience
- Grade 12 or equivalent qualification.
- Fluent in English.
- Tertiary qualification in Film, Media, Marketing, or equivalent practical experience.
- 2–3 years experience in content creation, video editing, or similar role.
- Proficiency with video editing software (Adobe Premiere Pro, After Effects, Final Cut Pro, CapCut).
- Familiarity with basic camera operation, lighting, and audio equipment.
- Strong storytelling skills, aligned with brand voice.
- Ability to manage quick turnarounds in a fast-paced environment.
- Strong knowledge of social media platforms and best practices (TikTok, Instagram Reels, YouTube Shorts).
- Basic knowledge of licensing and rights management for video clips, music, and digital assets.
Role Essentials
- Location: Durban North office-based, with occasional travel for events or filming.
- Flexibility: Weekend and after-hours availability required due to the dynamic, fast-paced nature of the security industry.
