Water Meter Theft Suspect Arrested in Westmead

Today, at approximately 12h09, a GWA Marshall Security Armed Response Officer was flagged down by a member of the public who reported a suspect attempting to steal a water meter from a property on High Ridge Road, Westmead. The suspect fled the scene after being disturbed.

Officers immediately called for backup and circulated a detailed description of the suspect’s clothing to responding GWA Armed Response and GWA Tactical vehicles.

While actively searching the area, the suspect was spotted on High Ridge Road and apprehended. He was found in possession of tools used to remove water meters, confirming an attempted theft.

Pinetown SAPS arrived shortly thereafter and took the suspect into custody for further investigation and processing.
