Yesterday afternoon just before 16h00 while on routine patrol on Kenneth Kaunda Road in the Athlone, Durban North area, members of our Special Operations Team noticed that the signage missing from the wall of a well known hotel.
Two individuals who were in the vicinity acted suspiciously upon noticing our team members passing by. Our team immediately acted on this and stopped to interview the two males. A search revealed numerous metal letters in their possession, which were confirmed to have been stolen from the hotel’s wall.
The business owner of the hotel who was unaware of the theft at the time was contacted and arrived on scene a short while later. The owner expressed a desire to open a criminal case against the suspects.
Greenwood Park SAPS arrived on scene a short while later and together with the assistance of Durban North SAPS the suspects were transported to Greenwood Park SAPS and will be facing charges of theft and being in possession of suspected stolen items.
