Yesterday, at approximately 16h50, a member of the Home Hawks Neighbourhood Watch contacted the Marshall Security UIP Office after spotting a suspect allegedly involved in an attempted break-in of a white Haval parked in a well-known parking lot in the Umhlanga area after reviewing CCTV footage.
It was reported that the suspect had allegedly used a brick in an attempt to gain access to the vehicle.
Marshall Security UIP Response Officers, together with Marshall Security Security Officers, immediately responded to the scene and successfully apprehended the suspect.
According to the complainant, she had parked her white Haval before going for a jog. Upon returning to her vehicle, she discovered that both the driver’s side and front passenger windows had been tampered with. A brick was found lying next to the driver’s door.
Durban North SAPS attended the scene shortly thereafter, and the suspect was transported to Durban North SAPS for further investigation and processing.
This incident highlights the importance of community vigilance and the close cooperation between Neighbourhood Watches, Marshall Security, and SAPS in identifying suspects and protecting the community.
