Last night, at approximately 19h04, the Marshall Security Emergency Dispatch Centre received a distressing report from a client on Gokal Road in the Avoca area. The caller reported that suspects in a white Toyota Quest had just hijacked a silver Mercedes Benz and shot a neighboring visitor as they fled.
Marshall Security’s Special Operations Team and Armed Response Officers were immediately dispatched to investigate the incident.
Upon arrival, members established that the homeowner had been confronted by armed suspects as he entered his property. The suspects forcibly removed him from his vehicle, striking him on the back of the head with a firearm, before fleeing the scene in both the hijacked Mercedes Benz and their Toyota Quest.
As the suspects were leaving, a neighbor’s friend who witnessed the incident attempted to intervene by blocking their vehicle. In response, the suspects opened fire, injuring him in the arm. Despite his injury, the man drove himself to the hospital for treatment.
The hijacking victim, who sustained lacerations to his head, was treated at the scene by a private ambulance service before being transported to the hospital for further care.
Greenwood Park SAPS arrived shortly thereafter to initiate an investigation into the hijacking.
This incident underscores the importance of vigilance and swift reporting during emergencies. Marshall Security urges residents to remain aware of their surroundings and to report any suspicious activity immediately.
