Our team members responded to an armed robbery at a well-known shopping centre in the Umhlanga area, targeting a jewellery store.
This morning, at approximately 11h15, the Marshall Security Emergency Dispatch Centre received multiple reports of a business robbery in progress at a well-known shopping centre.
Promptly, multiple Armed Response Officers and members of the Special Operations Team were deployed and arrived on scene within minutes.
Eyewitnesses stated an unknown amount of suspects, armed with high-caliber rifles forcibly entered a prominent jewellery store within the shopping centre premises. Unfortunately, the suspects successfully carried out the robbery, escaping with an undisclosed amount of valuable jewellery in an unknown vehicle.
Fortunately, no injuries were reported, but the store’s staff members experienced severe emotional distress during the incident. Netcare911 Paramedics were in attendance as well as the Durban North SAPS who will be investigating a case of business robbery.
