A combination of community vigilance, proactive response and coordinated operations by Marshall Security Armed Response Officers and the Special Operations Team (SOT) resulted in a theft suspect being apprehended and a stolen Nissan Navara being recovered in two separate incidents across Morningside and Westville.
In the most recent incident, this morning at approximately 06h06, the Marshall Security Emergency Dispatch Centre received a panic alarm activation from a client’s property along Gordon Road in Morningside.
At around the same time, the Control Room received information from a member of the public reporting that a suspect had stolen a solar panel light from a property along Rosetta Road and was fleeing towards Gordon Road while being pursued by members of the public.
Marshall Security Armed Response Officers were immediately dispatched to investigate. Upon arrival, officers spotted the suspect involved in a physical altercation with members of the public as he attempted to escape. An officer intervened and successfully apprehended the suspect, who was found in possession of the stolen solar panel light.
The homeowner, who is not a Marshall Security client, was informed of the apprehension and indicated their intention to press charges. Berea SAPS attended the scene shortly thereafter and transported the suspect and recovered property to the station for further investigation and processing.

In a separate incident last night, at approximately 19h30, Marshall Security’s Special Operations Team was activated by Tracker SA following the theft of a white Nissan Navara from a sports ground along Pitlochry Road in Westville.
SOT members responded immediately, with additional Marshall Security personnel dispatched to assist in the search. The stolen vehicle was subsequently located abandoned along Dunkeld Road, near the M19, with its engine still running.
The vehicle was secured and handed over to Westville SAPS for further investigation.
Marshall Security commends the officers involved in both incidents and acknowledges the important role played by community members and Tracker SA in providing information and assistance.
These successes highlight the value of effective information sharing, proactive security operations and cooperation between private security, tracking partners, SAPS and the communities we serve.
Marshall Security remains committed to apprehending suspects, recovering stolen property and working alongside its partners to help keep our communities safe.
