At approximately 15h31, Marshall Security’s Emergency Dispatch Centre received a report on a WhatsApp Crime Alert Group regarding a theft of an air conditioning unit. The incident occurred at around 14h35 on Avoca Road, Avoca, from the property of a Marshall client.
Armed Response Officers were immediately dispatched to the location to assist. Upon arrival, our officers made contact with the client, who reported that the suspect had entered the property through the rear gate, stole the air conditioning unit, and fled the scene and a clear description of the suspect was circulated as per CCTV footage.
At 16h08, during routine patrols, our Armed Response Officer spotted an individual matching the description of the suspect on Prince Umhlangane Road. The suspect attempted to flee but was swiftly apprehended after a brief foot chase at the corners of Old North Coast Road and Prince Umhlangane Road. A search of the area was conducted and the stripped aircon unit was found.
Greenwood Park SAPS arrived on the scene shortly thereafter and transported the suspect to the station for further processing. Our client has confirmed their intent to file charges against the suspect.
