On Thursday, the 14th of November 2024, two off-duty police officers from Greenwood Park Police Station were hijacked by armed suspects and robbed of their service firearms on Courtown Crescent in Avoca Hills.
In a coordinated effort, a team comprising Greenwood Park Trio Task Team, Durban North Trio Task Team, Newlands Trio Task Team, and Marshall Security Special Operations members followed up on crucial information, leading them to Newton A in Inanda. The suspect was apprehended and found in possession of the two stolen service firearms and 30 rounds of ammunition that was taken in the hijacking.
A further search of the premises uncovered two additional unlicensed firearms with 12 rounds of ammunition. The hijacked vehicle was also successfully recovered during the operation.
The suspect and all recovered items were taken to Greenwoodpark SAPS for further processing and investigations
