Earlier today, at approximately 13h00 members of our Special Operations Team conducting a routine patrol in the Durban North area successfully apprehended a suspect of interest on Margaret Maytom Avenue. The suspect is wanted in connection with a theft incident that occurred last Friday afternoon on Marion Avenue in the Glen Ashley area, during which a brass postbox was stolen.
Upon encountering the suspect, our officers noticed that he matched the description from the CCTV footage of Friday’s incident and promptly took action to apprehend him. Subsequent inspection of his possessions revealed the presence of a geyser and a spade in the suspects trolley. When questioned about the origin of these items, the suspect failed to provide a satisfactory explanation.
Durban North SAPS was alerted and arrived on the scene within minutes. The suspect has been transported to Durban North SAPS, where he will be facing charges of being in possession of suspected stolen items, as well as being linked to the theft case from Friday afternoon.
