At approximately 12h15, our Emergency Dispatch Centre received a call from a client in Newport Avenue, Glenashley, stating that her husband’s phone had just been stolen and gave us a description of the suspect which was obtained from CCTV footage.
Armed Reaction Officers were immediately dispatched to the scene.
Our officers viewed the CCTV footage and proceeded to search the area on foot. After a brief search, one of our officers apprehended the suspect near the Glenashley Post Office. After questioning the suspect as to the whereabouts of the iPhone, the suspect informed us that he had handed the phone to a second suspect nearby and gave us a description of him.
Our Armed Reaction Supervisor searched the area and arrested the second suspect, who had the phone in his possession.
The Durban North SAPS were called to the scene and the suspects were handed over for further investigation and processing.
Well done to our officers for their vigilance and successful arrest of the suspects.
