Community Vigilance and Marshall Security Lead to Suspect’s Arrest in Durban North

At approximately 18h38 last night, Marshall Security’s Emergency Dispatch Centre received an alert via a WhatsApp Crime Alert Group about a suspect seen hopping fences between properties while carrying a bicycle on Oxford Drive in the Durban North area.

Marshall Security’s Armed Response Officers were immediately dispatched to investigate. Upon arrival, the officers spotted a male suspect pushing a high-end Pyga bicycle, worth around R90,000, along Prospect Hall Road. When questioned, the suspect claimed to have purchased the bicycle at a flea market but could not provide proof of the purchase, raising suspicion. The suspect was promptly apprehended for further investigation.

Shortly thereafter, a Marshall Security client on Windsor Drive reported a break-in at their property, where a Pyga bicycle had been stolen. The client positively identified the bicycle found with the suspect as their stolen property.

Durban North SAPS was immediately contacted and arrived at the scene shortly after. The suspect was taken into custody and now faces charges of housebreaking and theft.

This incident underscores the importance of community vigilance and the effectiveness of collaboration between Marshall Security and local residents. The quick response from both our team and the community led to the recovery of the stolen bicycle and the apprehension of the suspect, preventing further criminal activity.

Marshall Security remains committed to working alongside the community to ensure safety and security for all residents in the Durban North area.
