Yesterday morning at approximately 07h45, while conducting a routine patrol along Swanfield Road in the Westmead area, GWA’s Marshall Security Armed Response Officers observed a male carrying a bag and behaving suspiciously.
Our officers immediately stopped the individual to investigate. Upon searching the suspect’s belongings, copper cables and copper joints were found concealed inside the bag. The suspect was promptly apprehended after failing to provide a reasonable explanation for being in possession of the items.

Pinetown SAPS was contacted and arrived on the scene a short while later. The suspect was transported to the Pinetown Police Station for further investigation and processing.
This copper theft arrest highlights the effectiveness of high-visibility patrols and rapid tactical response in combating opportunistic crime. The Greater Westmead Association (GWA), in partnership with Marshall Security, remains committed to proactive policing, criminal deterrence, and supporting SAPS in ensuring justice is served.
