This morning, at approximately 07:07, the Marshall Security Emergency Dispatch Centre received an alert from a vigilant member of the public via a WhatsApp Crime Alert group regarding a copper theft suspect actively stealing copper pipes from an air conditioner unit situated about four meters up a wall on a property on Manfred Drive in the Park Hill area.
Marshall Security Armed Response Officers were immediately dispatched to the scene to investigate.
Upon arrival, the copper theft suspect was caught in the act of forcibly removing copper pipes and was promptly apprehended. Our Emergency Dispatch Centre obtained the complainant’s contact details; they were unaware of the theft at the time but wished to press charges against the suspect.
Shortly afterward, Greenwood Park SAPS arrived and transported the suspect to the police station for further legal processing.
