At approximately 04h55 this morning members of the Greater Westmead Association (GWA) Marshall Security Tactical Teams and Armed Response Officers responded to a panic activation from a well known service station on Henry Pennington Road after a male driving a white Kia allegedly fled the service station without making payment after filling up with fuel.
Officers immediately began searching for the suspect vehicle and successfully spotted it a short while later. A pursuit ensued, during which the suspect turned into Gillitts Road, lost control of the vehicle, and collided with the boundary fence of a property. The driver was immediately apprehended.
Metro Police and Pinetown SAPS were notified who arrived on scene a short while later and took the suspect into custody for further investigations and processing.
Marshall Security commends the swift response of its members, together with the ongoing support and collaboration of the Greater Westmead Association (GWA), which resulted in the successful apprehension of the suspect. This incident once again highlights the value of the GWA’s proactive crime prevention initiatives, rapid information sharing, and coordinated response between GWA Marshall Security Tactical Teams, Armed Response Officers, and SAPS in ensuring offenders are brought before the courts.
