Debtors Clerk

We are looking for a detail-oriented Debtors Clerk to join our finance team in the security services industry. If you’re someone who thrives on accuracy, loves keeping things in order, and enjoys working in a collaborative environment, this role could be your perfect match. You’ll play a key part in managing customer accounts and ensuring the smooth running of our debt collection process.

What you’ll do:

Join our finance team as a Debtors Clerk, you’ll work closely with our Debtors Supervisor and broader finance team to process payments, reconcile accounts, and maintain positive client relationships. Your day will include digging into the numbers, solving discrepancies, and keeping everything running like clockwork.

Payment Processing
  • Capture and allocate incoming payments (EFTs, debit orders, etc.)

  • Reconcile customer accounts and resolve discrepancies

  • Provide feedback to the Debtors Supervisor on account status and risks

  • Follow up on overdue accounts via phone, email, and SMS

  • Handle billing queries and set up payment arrangements

  • Email monthly statements accurately and on time
  • Keep debtor records updated and accurate
  • Work closely with other departments (sales, operations, technical) to resolve queries

What you need to know:

Experience & Skills
  • 2+ years in a debtors/accounts receivable role (security industry an advantage)

  • Proficient in Excel, Outlook, Sage Evolution, BPO, Linkserv, and WatchManager (beneficial)

  • Excellent communication, numerical and analytical skills

  • Ability to manage pressure and meet deadline

  • Matric with accounting subjects

  • Diploma in Accounting or Finance (advantageous)

  • Basic understanding of credit control and the National Credit Act (NCA)

  • Must pass criminal record vetting and pre-employment polygraph

  • Strong team player with an independent work ethic
