Fuel Station Burglary Suspects Arrested After Investigation Leads to Recovery of Stolen Goods

On Monday morning, Marshall Security’s Emergency Dispatch Centre was alerted by staff from a fuel station in Umdloti regarding a business burglary that had occurred on October 12, 2024, extending into the early hours of October 13. The suspects had forced their way into the station by breaking the back door and stealing a large quantity of cigarettes before fleeing in an unknown vehicle.

In response, Marshall Security’s Special Operations Team immediately initiated an investigation, reviewing surveillance footage and following up on leads.

On October 17, 2024, at approximately 10:30 AM, a breakthrough was made when the team identified both the suspects and the vehicle involved. Working swiftly, Marshall Security’s Special Operations Team, in collaboration with SAPS Phoenix Trio Crimes, launched a coordinated search. The operation successfully intercepted a white Almera at a fuel station on Umhlanga Rocks Drive, where one of the suspects, seen at the crime scene, was apprehended.

During questioning, the suspect confessed to being the driver of the getaway vehicle and revealed that two of his accomplices were employees at the same fuel station. Acting on this information, Marshall Security and SAPS moved quickly to apprehend the two employees involved in the crime.

Further investigation revealed that the stolen cigarettes had been sold to several local shops in Verulam. Marshall Security’s Special Operations Team together with Phoenix Trio proceeded to these locations, successfully recovering some of the stolen goods.

The suspects, along with the recovered cigarettes and their vehicle, were taken to Durban North SAPS for further processing and investigation. It was also revealed that these same suspects had committed a similar burglary at the fuel station just one week prior.

This joint operation demonstrates Marshall Security’s dedication to community safety and swift action in collaboration with law enforcement to bring criminals to justice.
