At approximately 05h23 this morning, Marshall Security’s Emergency Dispatch Centre received a message from a vigilant member of the public on a WhatsApp Crime Alert Group reporting a male seen walking down Poinsettia Place, Glen Hills, carrying a generator.
Our Armed Response Officers were immediately dispatched to investigate. Upon arrival, they located the individual and questioned him about the generator. The male claimed that a resident from Sunningdale had given it to him but could not provide an address.
After establishing the address the the property owners were contacted and confirmed that they did not own a generator nor had given one to anyone.
Later on in the morning it was then established that the generator was stolen from a clients property on Cranberry Grove, Glen Hills, and identified the generator as his.
Greenwood Park SAPS was immediately called to the scene where the suspect was handed over to SAPS for further investigation and legal proceedings.
