Yesterday afternoon at approximately 15h00 various messages were posted on numerous WhatsApp crime alert groups reporting that a blue VW Golf 7 R had been stolen from a well-known car dealership in the Umhlanga area.
All Armed Response Officers as well members of our Special Operation Team were immediately informed to be on the lookout for the stolen vehicle. At approximately 17h50 information was received from an off-duty policeman on the possible whereabouts of the stolen vehicle.
Members of our Special Ops Team immediately responded to the said location and managed to recover the stolen vehicle which was found abandoned in the basement parking of a local shopping centre in the Cornubia area.
The vehicle was then handed back to the manager of the dealership as no case was opened or desired by the dealership.
