This morning at approximately 04h00, a white Toyota Hilux linked to numerous house breaking and theft incidents in Durban North, Glenashley, and other parts of Durban was spotted acting suspiciously on Ypsilanti Ave. Upon noticing members of our Special Operations Team, the vehicle immediately sped off at high speed. Durban North SAPS were immediately contacted for assistance.
In a coordinated effort, the vehicle was brought to a halt on the M4 freeway south bound in the Durban North area, leading to the apprehension of three suspects.
Upon searching the suspects’ vehicle, multiple electrical power tools, kitchen equipment, and electrical gardening tools worth approximately R60,000.00 were found. During questioning, the suspects led us to a property on Ypsilanti Avenue in the Glenashley area where they had removed a window pane to the garage and stolen all the items.
The suspects and the vehicle used in the commission of the crime were transported to Durban North SAPS for further investigation and processing. The suspects’ vehicle had also been linked to a theft case on Friday morning this week, where a trailer had been stolen from a homeowner’s property on Kinclaven Drive in the Durban North area, as well as to a theft of a motorbike on David Avenue on Wednesday morning this week.
Well done to our team for yet another successful apprehension and to the law enforcement for their teamwork in ensuring community safety.
