Marshall Security Special Operations Team Recovers Two Hijacked Vehicles Within Minutes

Yesterday at approximately 20h11, Marshall Security’s Emergency Dispatch Centre received a critical call from a client regarding an armed robbery and vehicle hijacking in Kenville. The company’s driver, operating a Toyota bakkie, had made a stop at a mini supermarket on Rosary Road when he was confronted by three armed suspects.

The suspects initially attempted to rob the store; however, the shopkeeper quickly took cover behind secure bars at the counter, thwarting their efforts. Frustrated, the armed men turned their attention to the driver, who was simply making a stop at the shop. The suspects robbed him of his money and cell phone before hijacking the company’s Toyota bakkie, which was equipped with a Cartrack vehicle tracking system.

Marshall Security’s Special Operations Team was immediately dispatched, coordinating with Cartrack to track the hijacked vehicle. The last known location of the hijacked Toyota bakkie was traced to Musa Dladla Road in Newlands West. Acting swiftly, the Special Operations Team arrived at the location together with Cartrack ground team and Greenwood Park SAPS Trio Crimes Unit and found the vehicle abandoned. Local witnesses revealed that the suspects had hijacked a second vehicle, a silver Hyundai Venue, after leaving the Toyota bakkie.

A search of the abandoned Toyota bakkie yielded a toy pistol and a cell phone believed to belong to one of the suspects. With assistance from Tracker SA, the team received the last known location of the second hijacked vehicle, which was recovered and found abandoned in the Kwamashu area by members of our Special Operations Team, Tracker SA ground team and the SAPS.

The Toyota bakkie, along with the recovered toy pistol and the suspects’ cell phone, was taken to Greenwood Park SAPS, while the Hyundai Venue was transported to Newland East SAPS for further processing.

We commend our Special Operations Team for their vigilance and rapid response, ensuring that dangerous criminals were thwarted in their attempts and hijacked vehicles were swiftly recovered leaving the criminals empty-handed.
