Yesterday morning our team members responded to two incidents, one a successful vehicle recovery and the other a copper theft incident.
At approximately 10h00 the Marshall Security Emergency Dispatch Centre received reports of a suspect carrying copper pipes while walking on Longwoods Drive in the Glen Hills area.
Multiple Armed Response Officers were immediately dispatched and a description of the suspect was circulated.
A few minutes later the suspect was seen walking on Malacca Road and as soon as he noticed our team members he dropped all the copper piping and fled into a nearby dense bush.
An extensive search was conducted for the wanted suspect but unfortunately he managed to evade arrest.
The stolen items were handed over to Greenwood Park SAPS.
At approximately 17h00, our team members responded to another incident where the Marshall Security Emergency Dispatch Centre was alerted to a theft of a motor vehicle incident on Firwood Road in the Avoca area where an unknown amount of suspects had stolen a clients Hyundia bakkie.
Details of the stolen vehicle were immediately circulated to all our Armed Response Officers and members of our Special Operations Team to be on the lookout.
It was later established that the stolen vehicle was fitted with a tracking device and members of our Special Ops Team were then activated to assist Matrix tracking with locating the stolen vehicle.
After a lengthy track the vehicle was eventually found partially stripped and abandoned in Newtown A in the Inanda area and recovered by the Matrix ground team assisted by members of our Special Ops Team.
A case of theft of a motor vehicle was reported at Greenwood Park SAPS by the owner.
Well done to our team on yet another successful recovery.
