This morning at approximately 04h30, the Marshall Security Emergency Dispatch Centre received an alarm activation from a property on Acutt Avenue, Umgeni. Our Emergency Dispatch Centre immediately contacted the client, who confirmed that an intruder had entered the property.
Marshall Security Armed Response Officers were swiftly dispatched to the scene. Upon arrival, officers discovered that the suspect had broken through a locked gate and gained access to the property. The suspect entered the garage through a window that had been removed for renovations, and stole several items, including hand tools, a sewing machine, and possibly other items yet to be confirmed. In an attempt to flee, the suspect damaged the garage’s roller door, triggering the alarm system. At this point, the client spotted the intruder fleeing.
Acting on crucial information obtained after the break-in, members of Marshall Security’s Special Operations Team immediately followed up on leads. At approximately 11:00, the Special Operations Team together with Greenwood Park Trio crimes successfully located and apprehended the suspect in the Briardene informal settlement. The stolen property was recovered, and both the suspect and the recovered goods were taken to Greenwood Park SAPS for further investigation and processing
In a separate incident this morning at approximately 10h00, Marshall Security Armed Response Officers were patrolling Acutt Road in the Umgeni Park area, when they spotted a suspect wanted in connection with a copper pipe theft from a local business in the Brairdene area. The suspect had been caught several times on camera in the past weeks stealing copper pipes from the business. Our officer immediately apprehended the suspect; however, the suspect was unfortunately released due to no case being desired.
Marshall Security urges business and property owners to open cases with the SAPS when crimes occur. This is crucial in ensuring that those who commit criminal acts are held accountable, allowing us to continue protecting the community effectively.
