At approximately 16h00 this afternoon one of our Marshall Guards called for back up in the Morningside area, after noticing a suspect stealing copper cables from a light pole outside a client’s property. Armed Response Officers were immediately dispatched.
While our officers were responding they were updated by the guard on site that the suspect had successfully removed the copper cable from the light pole and still walking on Livingston Road. Our officers went straight to Livingston Road where they saw the suspect and immediately arrested him.
Upon searching the suspect, several copper cables was found. It is believed the suspect is linked to several copper cable theft incidents in the area.
The suspect was handed over to the SAPS for further investigation and processing.
