In one of two vehicle recoveries only hours apart, our members responded to a hijacked vehicle where the motorist had been taken hostage on Friday and was only released by suspects yesterday morning.
Yesterday afternoon at approximately 13:45 members of our Special Operations Team were activated to assist Matrix Tracking with locating a silver VW Polo that had been hijacked in the Ndwedwe area on Friday evening. The driver of the vehicle was kidnapped and held hostage and only released early Sunday morning by the suspects.
Members of our Special Ops Team together with the Matrix ground team and the ANPR RTI Unit from Pinetown responded and within an hour of tracking the vehicle, it was successfully recovered in the Kwamashu area where two suspects were immediately arrested. The vehicle was fitted with false numberplates but this did not deter our team.
The suspects were then transported to Ntuzuma SAPS where they will be charged for being in possession of a suspected hijacked motor vehicle.
A short while later at approximately 15h10 our team was activated yet again, this time by Tracker SA to assist with a stolen silver Toyota Etios which had been taken from the Durban Central area.
Members of our Special Ops Team immediately responded and after a 30 minute track, the stolen Etios was recovered and found abandoned in Ntuzuma D – Section.
The vehicle was handed over to Ntuzuma SAPS for further investigation and processing.
Well done team on both vehicle recoveries!
