Our Special Operations Team members were activated to assist in two vehicle recoveries yesterday, in one of which a hijacked motorist had been taken along with his vehicle.
At around 21h00 last night our Special Operations Team were activated to assist Cartrack with a white Ford Ranger that had been hijacked in the Upper North Coast area. The driver of the vehicle had been taken hostage during the hijacking, but was eventually dropped off on the R102.
Our team members responded to the last known location of the hijacked vehicle, and within 11 minutes from being activated the vehicle was found abandoned and recovered on Udlokwe Road in G-Section Kwamashu.
Earlier in the day, just before 09h00, members of our Special Operations Team had been activated to assist Matrix Tracking with a Toyota Hilux that had been hijacked late Friday evening in the Kwamashu area.
Our team members immediately responded to the possible whereabouts of the hijacked vehicle. A few minutes later the vehicle was found abandoned in a business premises on Pelican Terrace in the Verulam area, where it was recovered by members of our Special Operations Team, Alpha Alarms and Matrix ground team.
Both scenes were secured and handed over to the SAPS for further investigation and processing.
