This morning in Morningside, just after 6h30, the Marshall Security Emergency Dispatch Center was alerted by an alarm activation from a glass break detector on a business premises on Gordon Road. Shortly thereafter, a member of the public reported through a WhatsApp Crime Alert Group that suspects had attempted to gain entry into the business but were interrupted.
Our response was swift, with multiple Armed Response Officers dispatched to the location. Upon arrival, they encountered two individuals attempting to break into the business premises. These suspects were promptly apprehended.
The business owner expressed a desire to press charges. Berea SAPS was notified and arrived on scene shortly after to take the suspects into custody. They are now facing charges of attempted business burglary.
