Marshall Security is aware of individuals impersonating our company and members of our team in an attempt to deceive members of the public and our clients.
We have received reports of individuals receiving suspicious phone calls from someone claiming to represent Marshall Security. In at least one instance, the caller attempted to get the recipient to access an online webinar or link. When questioned further about their identity and the legitimacy of the call, the individual terminated the call.
This follows a separate incident reported last week, where an individual was added to a community WhatsApp group and allegedly while attempting to sell items to members of the group in order to scam people of their money.
Marshall Security is actively investigating these incidents and working to identify and stop the source of the impersonation attempts.
At this stage, we urge our clients and members of the public to remain vigilant.
Impersonating trusted businesses and well-known organisations is a common modus operandi used by scammers to gain a victim’s trust before attempting to obtain personal information, encourage them to click malicious links, make payments or provide access to accounts and devices.
If you receive an unexpected call or message from someone claiming to represent a Company:
- Do not click on links or join online meetings or webinars unless you have independently verified the request.
- Never provide passwords, OTPs, banking information or other sensitive personal information over the phone or via WhatsApp.
- Do not make payments based solely on instructions received from an unexpected caller or message.
- Be cautious if the caller creates urgency or pressures you into taking immediate action.
- If you are uncertain, end the call and contact Marshall Security directly using our official contact details to verify that the person is genuinely associated with us.
Please do not rely solely on a caller’s display name, profile picture or the information they provide as proof of their identity.
If you receive a suspicious call or message from someone claiming to be from Marshall Security, please take note of the number, preserve any messages or screenshots, and report the incident to us.
Marshall Security takes the misuse of our name and identity seriously. Our team is working to establish the source of these incidents and will continue to keep our clients and community informed of any relevant developments.
