At approximately 18:00 on Thursday evening, Marshall Security was alerted to a stolen vehicle that was being chased on the M4 freeway from Ballito.
Security Teams from the Ballito & Tongaat areas were in pursuit of the vehicle that was stolen earlier in the day from the Eshowe Area.
The pursuit started on the N2 and then onto the M4 heading southbound towards Umhlanga. The pursuing officers lost visual of the vehicle near Umdloti but relayed the information to members of Marshall Security’s Special Operations Team, who were standing by on the M4 near Broadway.
The vehicle was spotted travelling at high speed passed Broadway on the M4 and the Marshall Team immediately began chasing the vehicle towards Durban CBD.
The suspect was weaving through traffic at high speed and sideswiped a number of vehicles before eventually losing control and colliding into another vehicle just outside the Durban Central SAPS.
The innocent female driver was fortunately mildly injured in the collision and the suspect was apprehended and handed over to the SAPS to be detained.
