Suspect Apprehended in Stolen VW Polo Recovery During Coordinated Durban Operation

This morning, at approximately 6:00 AM, Marshall Security’s Special Operations Team (SOT) acted on information about a white VW Polo stolen from Alpine Road in Sydenham.

While patrolling Inanda Road, SOT members spotted the white VW Polo accompanied by a silver VW Polo, both vehicles linked to theft incidents. Recognizing the vehicles, the team immediately followed them.

The white VW Polo diverted onto Joice Road, temporarily evading the team. However, the SOT continued following the silver VW Polo, which eventually came to a stop on Inanda Road. Two suspects fled from the vehicle into nearby bushes, while one suspect, seated in the driver’s seat, was apprehended.

The Durban SAPS K9 Unit arrived promptly to assist in tracking the fleeing suspects. Despite the K9 Unit’s efforts, the dense vegetation hindered further apprehensions.

Upon searching the silver VW Polo, officers discovered housebreaking implements, car-breaking tools, and computer boxes used to steal vehicles. Further investigation revealed tampered VIN and engine numbers, as well as false number plates. It was also determined that this same silver VW Polo had been used in another theft incident earlier in the week in Mayville.

The apprehended suspect and the silver VW Polo were transported to Newlands SAPS for further investigation and processing. Meanwhile, the white VW Polo was later recovered by Matrix tracking company in KwaMashu.

Marshall Security commends the swift coordination between its Special Operations Team, the Durban SAPS K9 Unit, and Newlands East SAPS. This successful recovery underscores the importance of vigilance and teamwork in combating vehicle theft and protecting the community.
