Sunningdale Intruder Detector Device Theft Suspect Arrested

Sunningdale Intruder Detector Device Theft Suspect Arrested

This past Saturday a suspect was caught on CCTV stealing intruder detection devices from one of our client’s property walls. The suspect had arrived at the premises in a blue Kia Picanto, which was clearly visible when reviewing the footage, and the description of the vehicle was circulated to all response officers and Special Operations Team members to be on the look out.

Then at approximately 13h30 yesterday, the wanted vehicle was spotted travelling on Umhlanga Rocks Drive in the Sunningdale area by members of our Special Operations Team. Our members immediately followed the vehicle and managed to bring it to a halt, where they proceeded to apprehend the suspect who matched the description.

The Durban North Police were contacted and arrived on scene a short while later. Upon searching the vehicle, four intruder detector devices were found. It had yet to be established as to where the other devices were stolen from. It was also established that the vehicle was a rental car, which had been wanted to by the car rental company since the 24th of September, after the suspect failed to renew the rental contract. The company had appointed their private investigators to locate the vehicle.

The suspect was arrested and detained at the Durban North Police station and will be charged for theft and for being in possession of suspected stolen items.

If anyone had been a victim of intruder detector device being stolen, please report the incident to the police.
