At approximately 05h00 on Sunday 19 July, Marshall Security’s Emergency Dispatch Centre received information of a vehicle theft in progress, in Devshi Drive, Effingham.
Our Reaction Officers and members from our Special Operations Team were dispatched to the area and it was confirmed that suspects in a Toyota Etios had stolen a Toyota Hilux bakkie. The vehicle was fitted with a tracking device and our team tracked the vehicle to the Inanda area.
Upon the arrival of our Special Operations Team, the suspects were busy stripping the Hilux and and began to flee from our team in the Etios. After a short chase, the suspects crashed the Etios and fled on foot while firing shots at our Special Operations Team members.
One suspect was apprehended and various housebreaking and vehicle breaking implements were found.
The suspect and scene was handed over to South African Police Services for further investigation and processing.
Well done to our team for excellent communication and on the successful vehicle recovery and arrest.
