On Monday our teams responded to a shooting incident in the Avoca area where it was established that two gunshot victims had been declared deceased on arrival.
At approximately 14h45 the Marshall Security Emergency Dispatch Centre received multiple calls and messages on various WhatsApp crime alert groups where it was reported that a shooting incident had taken place on Effingham Road. Multiple Armed Response Officers and members of our Special Operations Team were dispatched and arrived on scene within minutes.
Reports from the scene indicated that two unknown males, who were still seated in their vehicle, had sustained multiple gunshot wounds and were declared deceased on the arrival of paramedics. Multiple spent cartridges of a high caliber rifle were found on scene. The crime scene was secured by Greenwood Park SAPS assisted by members of our Special Ops team.
Circumstances leading to the shooting are currently unknown and will be investigated further by the Greenwood Park SAPS.
