At approximately 09h30 today Marshall Security were alerted to a robbery that occured in the Umdloti area. Its alleged that a couple were on a walk in the Sibaya Forest trails near the Sibaya area when a suspect confronted them. The suspect then pepper sprayed the victims and robbed the couple of their belongings at knife point.
Marshall Security Special Operations Team were activated to search for the suspect. A suspect fitting the description was spotted about an hour after the robbery on the N2 South bound close to the Blackburn informal settlement. After a short foot chase the suspect was arrested. The belongings that were stolen were recovered on the suspect as well as the knife and pepper spray canister used in the robbery.
The suspect was handed over to the SAPS for further investigation and processing.
