Residents in Avoca were robbed and hijacked by a gang of armed robbers on Friday.
At approximately 11h10 the Marshall Security Emergency Dispatch Centre was alerted to a residential armed robbery that had occurred in Tasneem Crescent in Avoca.
Members from our Special Operations Team and Armed Response Officers were immediately dispatched to the scene. Upon their arrival it was established that four armed suspects in an unknown vehicle with tinted windows had pulled up behind a motorist in a Cherry Tiggo a couple minutes after they had parked in the driveway.
The suspects produced firearms and demanded cash and cellphones before proceeding to steal the Cherry Tiggo and firing a shot as they fled the scene.
Our members immediately set off on a manhunt for the suspects along with the SAPS Phoenix Trio Crimes Unit. An hour and a half later, just after 12h30, the stolen Cherry Tiggo was found abandoned in the Lindelani area. The suspects were nowhere to be seen.
The scene was handed over to SAPS for further investigation.
