On Friday morning, at approximately 07h16, while conducting proactive patrols in the Briardene area, a Marshall Security Armed Response Officer was flagged down by a member of the public who reported suspicious activity at an unoccupied municipal property on Sea Cow Lake Road.
The individual reported that three suspects were allegedly stripping and stealing cables from the property.
The officer immediately requested backup, and additional Marshall Security Armed Response Officers responded to assist.
Upon arrival, officers entered the unoccupied building and successfully apprehended all three suspects, who were in possession of housebreaking implements, cables, and copper piping.
SAPS were informed and arrived on scene a short while later. All three suspects were taken into custody and transported to Greenwood Park SAPS for further investigation and processing.
Marshall Security commends the vigilance of the member of the public who reported the suspicious activity and the rapid response of our Armed Response Officers, whose actions resulted in the successful apprehension of all three suspects.
This incident once again highlights the important role that vigilant community members and proactive patrols play in identifying suspicious activity and combating cable and infrastructure theft within our communities.
