2 Minute Response Time: Hiding Housebreaker Hunted Out

A housebreaking suspect was caught still inside the Umgeni Park home he was breaking into when our Armed Response Officers and Special Operations Team members arrived on scene within minutes after being alerted to his presence by a vigilant neighbour.

Last week Friday at approximately 16h37 our Emergency Dispatch Centre received a call from a vigilant client who witnessed a suspect jumping into a neighbour’s property on Anthony Road in the Umgeni Park area.

Multiple Armed Response Officers were dispatched and arrived on scene within two minutes of receiving the call. Special Operation Team members also responded as backup and arrived on scene shortly thereafter.

While conducting a property check our team noticed the front sliding door and gate of the house was forced open. A perimeter was immediately set around the house to avoid any escape routes as it was believed that the suspect was still inside the house.

Members of our Special Operations Team then conducted an internal check of the house. During the search, a suspect armed with a screwdriver was seen hiding behind one of the bedroom doors. The suspect was disarmed of his weapon and immediately arrested by members of our Special Operations Team.

Upon searching the suspect, multiple collector cigarette lighters were found in his possession together with housebreaking implements.

The homeowner, who is not a Marshall Security client, was unaware of the housebreaking and was contacted to be informed accordingly, where after they wished to press charges against the suspect.

Greenwood Park SAPS arrived on scene and detained the suspect who will be charged for housebreaking and theft.

Well done to our team on yet again working together and making yet another successful arrest.
