This morning, at around 04:00, while on routine patrol along Hyacinth Road in the Avoca area, Marshall Security Armed Response Officers noticed a suspicious male carrying a bag. Upon stopping and searching him, our officers discovered various tools and an electric barbecue grill. When questioned, the suspect claimed he resided on a property on Hyacinth Road and that the items belonged to him.
To verify this claim, our officers proceeded to the property in question. Upon arrival, they observed that the burglar bars had been forced open and a window was broken. Further investigation led the officers to a resident of the main house, who confirmed that the individual is a tenant and lives in the garage but has been suspected of being involved in previous house breaking incidents on the property.

The property owner, who resides nearby, was contacted and arrived at the scene. He confirmed that the stolen items belonged to him and indicated his intention to press charges againts the now suspect after breaking into the property.
Greenwood Park SAPS was contacted shortly afterward, arrived on the scene, and took the suspect into custody for further processing.
This swift apprehension underscores our commitment to keeping the community safe and supporting residents in the fight against crime.
