Copper Cable Theft Suspects Arrested in Westmead During Night Patrol

On Monday night at approximately 19:00, a vigilant GWA Marshall Security Armed Response Officer spotted two suspicious males carrying heavy bags at the corner of Mariannhill Road and Fine Lane in Westmead, Pinetown.

Marshall Security’s GWA Tactical Officers were dispatched to the scene to provide backup.

Upon engaging the individuals, officers discovered several meters of copper cable inside the bags. When questioned, the suspects were unable to provide any valid explanation as to where the copper had come from and were immediately apprehended.

Pinetown SAPS was contacted and responded shortly afterward. The copper cable theft suspects were arrested and transported to Pinetown SAPS for further investigation and processing. They have since been charged accordingly.

At this stage, it remains unclear where the stolen copper cables originated.
