This morning, at approximately 10h40, the Marshall Security Emergency Dispatch Centre received urgent calls for assistance from members of the public regarding a possible murder at a residence on Sim Place in the Effingham area.
Multiple Armed Response Officers and members of our Special Operations Team were immediately dispatched to the scene and arrived within minutes. Upon arrival together with Greenwood Park SAPS a private ambulance service were already on scene, attending to an elderly woman, approximately 50 years of age, who had sustained severe lacerations to her neck and arms. Our Special Operations Team quickly assisted paramedics, stabilizing her before she was rushed to a nearby hospital for further medical treatment.
Tragically, in another room of the residence, paramedics and SAPS discovered an elderly female and a teenage male who had been severely stabbed. Both showed no signs of life and were pronounced deceased at the scene.
The circumstances surrounding the incident remain unclear, but it is suspected to be domestic-related. Greenwood Park SAPS are currently investigating the case further.
