Yesterday, at approximately 10h51, Marshall Security received information regarding a white Toyota Avanza wanted in connection with an ATM fraud case being investigated by Sydenham SAPS.
The vehicle’s details were immediately circulated to Marshall Security Armed Response Officers.
At approximately 11h08, while conducting proactive patrols, Marshall Security Armed Response Officers located and intercepted the wanted vehicle on Adelaide Tambo Drive in Durban North.
Additional Armed Response Officers responded to assist, while members of Sydenham SAPS arrived on scene shortly thereafter.
Following further investigation and a review of CCTV footage, it was confirmed that the suspect was wanted in connection with the ATM fraud case.

According to the investigation, the suspect is alleged to have targeted victims at ATMs by distracting them during transactions before stealing or swapping their bank cards. The stolen cards were then allegedly used to carry out fraudulent transactions.
The suspect and vehicle were escorted to Sydenham SAPS for further investigation and processing.
Marshall Security reminds members of the public to remain vigilant when using ATMs. Never allow a stranger to assist you with your transaction, always keep your bank card in your possession, shield your PIN while entering it, and if your card is retained or appears to have been swapped, immediately contact your bank to block the card. If possible, use ATMs located inside shopping centres or bank branches where additional security measures are in place.
This incident highlights the importance of proactive patrols, rapid information sharing, and the effective use of CCTV in identifying suspects and supporting successful arrests. It also serves as a reminder that remaining alert while using ATMs is one of the most effective ways to prevent becoming a victim of card-related fraud.
