Hijacked Municipal Toyota Hilux Recovered and Suspect Apprehended

This morning at approximately 11h45, Marshall Security’s Emergency Dispatch Centre received an alert about a stolen Toyota Hilux that had been spotted in the Westmead area.

Acting immediately, Marshall Security’s GWA Tactical and Special Operations Teams were dispatched to locate and intercept the vehicle.

Our officers successfully spotted the Toyota Hilux at the intersection of Westmead and Emmaus Road, where the suspect was swiftly apprehended. Pinetown SAPS was contacted and arrived shortly after to take over the investigation.

Upon further examination, it was revealed that the VIN number on the license disc did not match the VIN on the vehicle’s chassis. A deeper vehicle check confirmed that the Toyota Hilux had been hijacked in February in Cato Manor—a case that had remained unsolved until now.

The suspect and the recovered Hilux were transported to the police station for further investigation and processing.

This recovery is a testament to Marshall Security’s rapid response, tactical expertise, and unwavering commitment to combating vehicle-related crime. The Greater Westmead Association (GWA), in collaboration with Marshall Security and SAPS, continues to play a pivotal role in ensuring a safer environment for all.
