At approximately 13:30 yesterday afternoon, Marshall Security’s Emergency Dispatch Centre was alerted by a concerned citizen about a suspicious individual in the Red Hill area. The passerby reported seeing a male carrying what appeared to be a two-piece door on Kingston Road.
Responding promptly to the call, multiple armed response officers were dispatched to the area. The suspect was soon located on Umhlanga Rocks Drive, still in possession of the stolen door. Upon further investigation, it was confirmed that the door and various other items, including brass window latches, were taken from a vacant house on Kingston Road.
Greenwood Park SAPS responded swiftly to the scene and took the suspect into custody. He is now facing charges for being in possession of suspected stolen items. Notably, this individual is a repeat offender, previously apprehended for similar offenses at the same vacant property.
