The morning, at approximately 09h05, the Marshall Security Emergency Dispatch Centre received a report of trespassing and an attempt to theft at a non-client property on Kotecha Place, Avoca. A male suspect was spotted by the homeowner in their yard, attempting to steal some valuable items from the property. Upon being noticed, the suspect dropped the items, jumped over the gate, and fled the scene on foot.
A detailed description of the suspect was promptly circulated to all our Armed Response Officers in the area. Shortly afterward, the suspect was located on Greyridge Road, in the Avoca area. He was immediately apprehended and positively identified by the homeowner.
The homeowner has expressed an interest to press charges against the suspect. Consequently, the suspect was handed over to Greenwood Park SAPS and will face charges of attempted theft and trespassing.
Notably, the suspect is a known offender, and was previously arrested by our team in November last year. For that incident, he was sentenced to two months imprisonment and was only released last week Friday.
