Monday night, at approximately 22h42, the Marshall Security Emergency Dispatch Centre received a message via a WhatsApp Crime Alert group requesting security patrols on Kenville Road in the Sea Cow Lake area. The alert reported multiple cable theft suspects actively stealing cables from a light pole in front of Umgeni Heights Flats.
Marshall Security Armed Response Officers were immediately dispatched to the scene to investigate. Upon arrival, our officers spotted four individuals fleeing. A pursuit ensued, resulting in the successful apprehension of two cable theft suspects. A ladder and a pair of pliers were recovered at the location.
Greenwood Park SAPS was contacted and arrived shortly afterward. The suspects were transported to the police station, where they were officially charged with damage to municipal infrastructure.
