At approximately 02h50 this morning, our Emergency Dispatch Center received an alarm activation from a client in Margaret Maytom Avenue.
Upon arrival, of our Armed Response officers, our client advised that they had just been broken into. It was later established that the suspects had placed a chair under an aircon compressor and gained access through an open window, by climbing on top of the compressor. Laptops, cameras and several other undisclosed items were stolen.
Shortly thereafter, we received beam activations from a client in Hinton Grove and our Armed Reaction Officers were dispatched. The suspects in question were on the property and when they noticed our team, they dropped a few items. Unfortunately, they managed to evade arrest, jumping over several property walls.
Some of the recovered items were positively identified by our client in Margaret Maytom Avenue. The other stolen items that were found on scene were handed over to the Durban North SAPS, as it could not be established where the items were stolen from.
