This morning at approximately 07h00, while on routine patrol in Ballito, Marshall Security Tactical and Armed Response Officers noticed a suspicious male walking along Ocean Drive carrying black plastic bags. One of the bags appeared to contain a TV.
The officers stopped to investigate and discovered the suspect in possession of a TV, speaker, kettle, and other items. When questioned, the suspect could not provide a reasonable explanation for how he acquired the items. He was immediately apprehended, and Umhlali SAPS was contacted.
During questioning, it was revealed that the suspect was linked to at least four other cases. Although the origins of the items found today were identified, the homeowners could not be contacted at the time. The suspect will face charges for being in possession of suspected stolen goods.
In a significant breakthrough, the suspect led Umhlali SAPS and Marshall Security teams to locations where he had previously sold stolen items, including TVs, laptops, jewelry, and more. These items have since been recovered.
Marshall Security commends its officers for their vigilance and the collaboration with Umhlali SAPS, resulting in the recovery of stolen property and the apprehension of a suspect linked to multiple crimes.
