Theft Suspects Apprehended – But Released After Victim Declines to Open Case

At approximately 12h52, a resident on Lancaster Grove (a non-Marshall Security client) reported via a WhatsApp Crime Alert group that two suspects had entered their property and stolen two fans before fleeing toward the rear of the premises. Descriptions of the suspects’ clothing were shared with responding officers.

Marshall Security Armed Response Officers immediately proceeded to the area based on the information provided.

While patrolling Tramway Road, officers observed two males walking quickly with bags over their shoulders that matched the circulated descriptions. The suspects were immediately apprehended.

Upon searching the bags, officers recovered the stolen items.

The homeowner was contacted but indicated that they did not wish to open a case against the suspects. As a result, the suspects were transported by Greenwood Park SAPS to the police station for processing and were later released with a verbal warning.

Without formal charges being laid, suspects are released and are able to return and potentially commit further offences. Reporting crimes and opening cases not only helps hold offenders accountable but also allows law enforcement to link suspects to other incidents and build stronger cases against repeat offenders.
